Simple Coleslaw Recipe For Any Occasion!
I have a really great coleslaw recipe that I got from my grandma – it’s easy and tastes amazing! Other than the coleslaw all the ingredients are pretty much things you typically have in the kitchen, which makes it easy to make. I don’t make it too often, but it’s really good to make for a big group for a barbeque – it’s pretty quick and easy to make a large amount.
Recently my boyfriend and I were going to a friends house and we were supposed to bring coleslaw – his friend has a smoker and was making brisket, so this side goes perfectly with it. I made 2 pounds of coleslaw and everyone loved it. It went really well on the side as well as on top of the brisket on a sandwich. I did make one pound and then the next and then mixed them together – I felt like doing it all at once could be too many ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of Helmann’s Mayonnaise (it has to be Helmann’s!!)
- 3 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp of salt
- 6 cups of shredded cabbage/about 1 lb (I just use 1 bag of coleslaw mix)
Helmann’s mayonnaise is the best and I definitely think this could taste different if you use a different kind of mayo! All other ingredients are pretty standard and could be any brand. I mix everything together in a big bowl and make sure it is mixed together really well – when I made two pounds I mixed all ingredients together twice. After it’s mixed I would definitely say to let it sit in the refrigerator for at least twenty minutes before serving.
This is super easy to make and everyone has loved it so far – give this a try for something easy and homemade!
