Crispy Fried Meatballs
Meatballs were always a staple in my house growing up – my mom has made sauce pretty much every Sunday for as long as I can remember – and of course meatballs! My mom always fries the meatballs while the sauce is cooking – she puts some in a bowl to pick on and they are always gone before dinner – good thing she puts the other half in the sauce! Watching my mom cook like this over the years I have learned so many great recipes like this one and I love sharing them here! Her meatballs are one of my favorite and even though I make them the same way hers are always better!
I love eating these meatballs alone, in sauce, sauce on the side – pretty much any way! They are perfect for an Italian dinner, meatball sandwich or just with sauce!
Ingredients
- 1 lb chopped meat
- ¾ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
- 6-7 handfuls of water
- Canola oil for frying
Directions:
- Add chopped meat, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder to a large bowl.
- Add handfuls of water – start with about 5 and see how the consistency – you don’t want them to be too wet or too dry, so add handfuls of water as needed.
- Mix together with your hands – make sure breadcrumbs are mixed in really well!
- Roll meat into balls – each around the same size, not too large.
- Heat oil in frying pan – about an inch in the bottom of the pan.
- Add meatballs to oil and fry on one side until browned and then flip.
- Fry until your desired crispy-ness!! For me the crispier the better!
